It can be easily said that the now infamous #TinyHouseMovement has taken the architecture world by storm – and rightfully so.
Living tiny implies a unique lifestyle which is in most cases budget-friendly and, most importantly, environmentally conscious. Benefits of living tiny are numerous, and here are a few:
– Living tiny is affordable to everyone, – It is less expensive to maintain, – It is actually easy to maintain (in fact, you will actually save time), – It connects you with the environment, – It can boost your creativity, – It is beneficial to your mental health, – You can finally get rid of the stuff you don’t really need, – It’s simply healthier (above all, tiny houses are mostly made of quality natural materials)
These are all reasons why it was very important for us to work on such project. Since we already have experience in designing tiny naval objects (most importantly, our fully equipped catamaran apartment), moving our ideas on the ground was no surprise. So, now I will use this opportunity to present our latest tiny project – a folding house ready to fit into any landscape.
The house is mostly made of natural materials, such as wood. Its design is based on the idea of combining the outer space with the interior, a concept that provides a strong connection between users and the surroundings. This kind of layout provides users with much-needed privacy, relaxation in the natural environment, as well as complete safety.
The house is designed as a multi-purpose portable object whose geometry can be changed when disassembled. The central interior part of the house is imagined as a comfy living zone with a living area, a dining room, and a kitchen. There is also a sleeping zone above the bathroom. Householders can also use a tiny storage room which can be reached from the outside. There they can store all the terrace furniture, as well as gardening tools.
The outdoor area entirely consisted of a big terrace, is attached to the house and can be easily disassembled. When put together, the house is completely closed, asymmetrical and safe from any external factors – human or otherwise. During summer, the house can be fully opened, allowing the natural environment to fill the interior.
This house model is prefabricated, meaning it does not require any additional construction work. However, permits for its construction could vary from country to country. Furthermore, with only 20 square meters in size, it can even be put in someone’s yard as extra lodging.
